Everything Ryan Grubb said before Rose Bowl about early-game ‘shenanigans,’ Nick Sheridan

Enrollment plans changed for several members of the No. 2 overall signing class for Alabama following the Crimson Tide’s 17-point comeback win over Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Nine total signees have made their way to campus over the last week or so to participate in Rose Bowl practices and make the trip to Pasadena (Calif.) next week for the quarterfinal matchup with No. 1 ranked Indiana on January 1.

Five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds (Marietta, GA), four-star receiver Cederian Morgan (Alexander City, AL), four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson (Gadsden, AL), four-star tight end Mack Sutter (Dunlap, IL), four-star quarterback Jett Thomalla (Omaha, NE), four-star offensive lineman Chris Booker (Atlanta, GA), four-star defensive lineman Corey Howard (Valdosta, GA), three-star defensive lineman Kamhariyan Johnson (Muscle Shoals, AL) and three-star linebacker Zay Hall (Tuscaloosa, AL) make up the group.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Morgan is already picking up some praise. Both offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and veteran receiver Germie Bernard mentioned the No. 5 ranked receiver in the country during the media availability on Saturday afternoon.

Grubb was asked if there have been any early impressions on the incoming group as a whole. He joked about how there hasn’t been much given those guys only being on campus for a few days, but said this about the big-bodied receiver.

“I know Cederian (Morgan) has been doing an awesome job over with the scout team for the defense, which is really cool.”

Bernard was also asked about the early impressions from Morgan and he delivered some high praise.

“He’s going to be a great player here. I am excited to watch his growth and how he is going to succeed. He’s a big receiver, obviously. He listens very well. He takes coaching. He’s eager to learn. He’s been really, really good giving our guys on scout team a look.”

“It’s exciting to see a guy like that come in early,” Bernard continued. “It really helped me in the long run and I think it is going to help him even more elevating his game. I am excited to see his growth.”

Grubb also brought up Thomalla, who broke multiple Nebraska state records while winning back-to-back state championships at Millard South (NE) High School, saying he “played a little bit of catch” on Friday night soon after making it to campus earlier that same afternoon.

Thomalla, like many others, planned to be on campus next week but couldn’t turn down the “opportunity of a lifetime” per his father, Justin Thomalla.

Grubb brought up similar thoughts on Saturday afternoon as well.

“It’s a cool entry point for these guys into the program here at Alabama. We’re on a playoff run. We’re going to the Rose Bowl. I think, in their mind, this is everything they signed up for. This is what they want it to look like when they are in those seats.”

11 more members of the 2026 signing class will make their way to campus during the first week of January, including five-star No. 1 linebacker Xavier Griffin (Gainesville, GA) and elite safety prospect Jireh Edwards (Upper Marlboro, MD).
