Raiders Commit to Covering Full Cancer Treatment Costs for Franchise Hall of Fame Legend

The Las Vegas Raiders have pledged to cover all medical expenses for one of the most legendary wide receivers the sport has ever produced—reaffirming that in Raider Nation, true greatness is never forgotten.

Team President Mark Davis announced the decision with a powerful message, honoring a player whose toughness, hands, and clutch presence shaped the Raiders’ identity across eras.

“He carried the spirit of this franchise in every snap,” Mark Davis said.
“He gave everything to the Silver and Black. Now we give back—fully, proudly, and without hesitation.
Once you’re a Raider, you’re family for life.”

That promise was made to Fred Biletnikoff, the Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver whose precision, courage over the middle, and legendary reliability turned him into one of the most respected pass-catchers of his generation.

Biletnikoff spent his entire pro playing career with the Raiders (1965–1978) and finished with 589 receptions, 8,974 receiving yards, and 76 touchdowns—production that stood out even more in a time when football leaned heavily toward the run.

He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection, and his defining moment on the biggest stage came when he was named Super Bowl XI MVP, helping deliver a championship that still sits at the heart of Raiders history.

Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988, Biletnikoff remains one of the most honored figures the franchise has ever produced—an emblem of the Raiders’ fearless brand of football and their belief in rising when it matters most.

As the news spread, Raider Nation responded the way it always does for its legends: loud, loyal, and united—because in this organization, greatness isn’t rented.

It’s remembered. It’s protected. It’s family.
