In Married to Medicine Season 12, we’ve seen Dr. Contessa Metcalfe talking about how much money she and Dr. Scott Metcalfe had poured into their new medical office. They’ve cashed out 401Ks and invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into this place, with construction still underway.

With that in mind, it was surprising, to say the least, when Contessa nonchalantly dropped $40,000 on her 49th birthday party. Her castmates were confused, her husband was concerned, and one Watch Happens Live audience member decided to get to the bottom of it.

On M2M, Scott said that instead of spending $40,000 on a birthday party, Contessa should have spent it on finishing the windows and floors at their medical office. A fan asked her about his comments during the January 12 episode of WWHL, and Contessa didn’t mince her words. This was money well spent.

As Contessa mentioned on M2M, this Players Club-themed bash was the first time she’s ever had a birthday party — ever. So, she knew she needed to invest a lot of cash into making it the party of her dreams.

“It felt like $10,000 per decade of life,” Contessa explained. “I never had a birthday party. No graduation from medical school party. My parents couldn’t afford it growing up, and literally this was my dream party. A lot of people wait until they’re 50, but I feel like tomorrow’s not promised.”

Contessa made it clear that she has zero regrets about the $40,000 party. She said it was the party of her dreams, and honestly? Good for her. Those windows and floors could wait a few more days.

“It was the best party I’ve ever been to, and I threw it,” she declared.
