After a tough, hard-fought battle against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field during the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, the Los Angeles Rams have advanced to the NFC Championship Game to take on the division rival Seattle Seahawks for a chance to head back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2022.

The Rams will have their work cut out for them against a Seahawks squad that crushed the San Francisco 49ers this past weekend, 41-6. Los Angeles will need to be firing on all cylinders if it hopes to get the best of Seattle at Lumen Field on Sunday, with players like star running back Kyren Williams crucial to the team’s success as it heads into hostile territory.

Ahead of the clash with the Seahawks in Seattle, Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to the media and opened up about the leadership skills of his star running back, which have really come to the surface during these NFL playoffs.
“I think he’s a stud in terms of just his great energy,” McVay said of Williams during Monday’s media availability. “He’s a lead-by-example guy. He’s got this authentic energy. This just consistent belief. This never-say-die attitude, and he’s got this mental and physical toughness.
“He’s so authentically and refreshingly himself and I think that’s why it resonates with his teammates and never asks anything of his teammates that he’s not willing to do and he’s done a hell of a job.”

McVay provided an example of seeing Williams’ leadership firsthand, starting with what he saw during the playoff matchup with the Carolina Panthers during Wild Card Weekend.
“I’ve just felt his presence each of the last two weeks when we’ve been in some adverse situations, whether it’s going down four against Carolina, listening to him encourage his teammates on the sideline about the belief of putting together a two-minute drive.

“Yesterday, I thought he was key and critical on that 91-yard drive. He had some huge plays. … I just think his overall energy, and I think the edge that he provides, particularly in some of the challenging moments, that’s when I think you need that leadership the most, and I think that’s when he and guys like Matthew [Stafford] and really our leaders as a whole have been at their best and that’s why we’re in this position.”
Clearly, McVay thinks highly of Williams, and that leadership will be key in a tough road matchup against the Seahawks this weekend.
