CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow will remain on IR this week as he continues to ramp up his recovery, according to the Bengals’ injury report for Sunday. This means that Burrow won’t be moved to the active roster just yet, and Joe Flacco will start for the Bengals as Cincinnati takes on the New England Patriots in Week 12.Now, all eyes will move toward Thanksgiving night for the star QB to potentially make his return in a primetime game against the Baltimore Ravens. It all comes after days of speculation the quarterback may return to the field sooner than expected as he continues to ramp up his recovery. He was initially listed as questionable Friday.

Earlier this week, Zac Taylor described the conversations he has had with Burrow about a potential early return, “It’s very conversational. It’s very much like me and any of you having a conversation. Me letting him know about my concerns, just full transparency. That’s what every conversation has been that we’ve had for over a week — just full transparency. We’re at that place where I’m going to tell you everything I think, the pros, the cons, and I want to hear the same from you. He’s done a great job communicating. We’re totally on the same page.”Last week, the Bengals started Burrow’s 21-day practice window before they must make a decision on whether to activate him from injured reserve.Burrow first practiced in full Wednesday. More good news came Thursday, when Burrow walked to practice and again suited up.According to WLWT Sports Director Charlie Clifford, Burrow opened the practice session by taking snaps with the first team, while Joe Flacco — who has taken over as starter after coming to the Bengals via trade — took snaps with the second team.Head coach Zac Taylor said he thought Burrow was “ready” when they started his 21-day window, saying “I think he’s in a good spot,” but tempered expectations, saying the team would take it one day at a time.Initially reported that Burrow would be facing a three month recovery following surgery, Sunday is 65 days after the Bengals quarterback had his procedure, putting him ahead of schedule. Before he returned to the practice field, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Burrow was “on track, doing well, has had no setbacks.” Rapoport at the time said Burrow was on track for a mid-December return to the field.Burrow can be activated off IR any time during the 21-day window enacted by the Bengals on Nov. 10.
