Teddi Mellencamp has continued to show remarkable courage throughout her battle with stage 4 cancer, and her longtime friend and fellow “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards is making sure her strength doesn’t go unnoticed.
In a new interview with USA Today, Kyle, 55, shared an encouraging update on Teddi’s health following the October announcement that there was “no detectable cancer.”
“The best call you could ever hear in your life,” Kyle said of the moment she learned about the Bravo star’s cancer-free status. She described the update as “amazing,” but also acknowledged the challenges ahead, as Teddi continues immunotherapy for two more years.
“She has hard days, you know, when she feels very down, where she doesn’t have the energy,” Kyle said. “And then other days, she pulls it together, and she’s great. She’s doing her podcast, still killing it with that, and still working—but it’s hard.”
“Even though she’s cancer-free now, now she’s trying to get her life back,” she added.
Teddi has remained transparent about her ongoing health journey. After Kyle initially urged her to get a mole checked in 2022, Teddi was diagnosed with melanoma. The cancer later metastasized to her lungs and brain, resulting in multiple surgeries and ongoing treatment.
In an Instagram Story from early November, Teddi reflected on the ups and downs of her recovery.
“Some days are definitely better than others,” she wrote. “And you don’t see all the times I’m laying in bed unable to do much. Don’t be afraid to let people know how you’re feeling, and don’t feel guilty if you need to rest.”
Still, Teddi is showing up for life in big ways. She made it to BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas thanks to a push from Kyle.
“She was really nervous to go to BravoCon because she said, ‘You know what, I don’t have the energy,’” Kyle explained. “And I said, ‘Everyone gets the energy once you’re in Vegas—it’s contagious.’”
Their bond has only deepened through shared challenges, from Teddi’s health battle to both women navigating personal separations.
“Just going through what she’s gone through brought us even closer,” Kyle said in a Daily Dish interview. “What I was going through first, and then her separation, and then this curveball… it was mind-blowing. But it really did bring us closer, and I just love and appreciate her so much.”
After what she called “the most difficult year of my life,” Teddi shared a heartfelt Christmas message with her fans.
“I’m so grateful that I get to celebrate another Christmas and continue the tradition of sharing with you all one of my favorite memories,” she wrote in a holiday Instagram post.
Despite separating from Edwin Arroyave, the two celebrated Christmas together with their children, sharing sweet family photos.
“The only gifts I need. Merry Christmas to you and yours,” Teddi captioned one image. Edwin posted a similar message: “God is good. Merry Christmas to all!”
Teddi’s journey is far from over, but her resilience, honesty, and sense of gratitude continue to inspire those around her—including fans, family, and friends like Kyle.
