Micah Parsons Fuels Trade Rumors With Bold Gesture Toward Falcons Fan Amid Cowboys Standoff
The tension between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys just got hotter — and cameras caught every second of it.
Ahead of Friday night’s preseason game between the Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons at AT&T Stadium, the All-Pro linebacker once again sparked speculation about his future. Three weeks after publicly requesting a trade, Parsons dropped another hint that he may already have his next team in mind.
Parsons’ Trade Request Still Looms
At 26 years old, Parsons is one of the NFL’s premier defensive players. But despite being eligible for an extension since last year, the Cowboys have yet to lock him down long-term. Owner Jerry Jones has instead prioritized new deals for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, leaving Parsons increasingly frustrated.
Last month, Parsons issued a lengthy social media post confirming he had formally requested a trade and informed Cowboys executive Stephen Jones. While he still has one season left on his rookie contract, Parsons has made it clear he wants out of Dallas.
The Falcons Gesture That Sparked Buzz
Even with his trade request hanging over the franchise, Parsons was present at AT&T Stadium to watch his teammates in their final preseason matchup. While heading toward the locker room — nachos in hand — he was approached by a Falcons fan who shouted for him to “come to Atlanta.”
Instead of ignoring it, Parsons smiled and made a phone-call gesture, as if signaling that he’s open to a move. ESPN’s Todd Archer shared the video, and it immediately went viral.
Fans and analysts alike are now wondering: Was Parsons simply playing along, or is Atlanta a serious landing spot?
What a Trade Could Look Like
If the Cowboys do move Parsons, the compensation would be massive. ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that the 2018 Khalil Mack blockbuster between the Raiders and Bears could serve as a blueprint.
In that deal, Oakland received two first-round picks, a third, and a sixth-rounder in exchange for Mack, who went on to sign a $141 million extension with Chicago.
Given Parsons’ age (26), résumé (four-time Pro Bowler), and status as arguably a top-five defensive player in the NFL, the Cowboys could command even more — possibly multiple first-rounders plus additional assets.
The End of the Road in Dallas?
Parsons’ recent social media activity, combined with his public trade request and Friday night’s viral moment, strongly suggests he has no plans to mend fences with the Cowboys. For Dallas, losing their defensive cornerstone would be devastating, but getting maximum value in return could reshape their roster for years to come.
For now, the standoff continues — but Parsons’ playful “phone call” to a Falcons fan may have been the biggest sign yet that his time in Dallas is nearing its end.
