Michael Carroll, who was named to the SEC All-Freshman team following the 2025 season, has re-signed with Alabama.

The former five-star recruit and No. 1 ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class out of IMG Academy (Fla.) in appeared in 14 games with the Crimson Tide during his freshman season. The 6-foot-6, 321-pounder started in six of those contests while totaling 529 snaps primarily at right tackle.

In regular season play, Carroll allowed just 11 pressures and two sacks across 272 pass-protection snaps, finishing No. 1 among SEC true freshmen with a 77.0 Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade (minimum 100 snaps).

Carroll was a key piece to the offensive line throughout the 2025 season. Offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic was asked about his ability to come in and contribute right away in Tuscaloosa (Ala.) during Rose Bowl media day last month.

“Yeah, it says a lot about him to be able to play the true freshman at this level of football, right? And the thing about him that’s impressive is no matter how big the moment is, it doesn’t overwhelm him. You know, he’s almost got that confidence in himself that’s so high that it’s a good thing. You know what I mean? And what we’ve seen from him, you saw flashes, you know, in spring and fall camp. And then every time we gave him reps in the game early on, he played at a high level and you saw his ability, and he just earned the trust of us as a staff to get him out there and believe he was one of our best guys. And, you know, each week is it’s own challenge, and he’s had some really good moments and he’s had some fresh in the moments, but overall, you watch him as a true freshman, I feel like he’s done a heck of a job.”

Alabama’s starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor, who declared for the NFL Draft earlier this week, also had high praise for Carroll following the Iron Bowl win in November.

“He’s just been doing a really, really great job of just hustling to the ball and really finishing blocks and just being, being an aggressor that he needs to be. Because he’s an athletic freak. That’s what we’re expecting him to do, and that’s what we’re expected of everybody throughout the offensive line.”

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer had this to say about his, at the time, incoming freshman offensive lineman during the summer:

“He’s a versatile guy, too. You know, could play guard, had to play a little bit of tackle here this spring. And, you know, Michael’s got the right mindset, attitude. I think there’s a learning curve for any player, but especially offensive line, and it’s physical, it’s mental. And, you know, Michael made the steps that you would really hope a player would make throughout the spring, much like I think many of our guys did. So he’s, you know, all these guys right now, I think that the big thing for them is they got to understand the month of May isn’t a time just to be away and just come back, you know, where you left off. They need to be progressing. And I think with those young guys, Michael would be one of them, you challenge them to go have a great month of May. Enjoy your time with your family and all that good stuff, but let’s make sure we’re working so when you come back after Memorial Day here, we’re ready to roll.”

The offensive line continues to go through a complete overhaul heading into the 2026 season with starting right guards Kam Dewberry and Geno VanDeMark areout of eligibility. Starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor, a junior, projects as a first-round pick. Fellow junior Parker Brailsford is considered a top-three center. Both have declared for the NFL Draft. Reserve linemen Micah DeBoseOlaus Alinen, Joseph Ionata and Roq Montgomery are also entering the transfer portal.
