Trevor Lawrence Takes Full Responsibility, Pleads With Fans Not to Target Teammates After Heartbreaking Loss to Bills

The loss was sudden, the silence afterward even louder. One day after the Jaguars’ season ended, the reality of it all settled in — and their quarterback didn’t shy away from the weight of it.
Trevor Lawrence spoke with raw honesty following the Jaguars’ 27-24 Wild Card defeat to the Buffalo Bills, taking full responsibility for a season that fell short of its ultimate goal.
“I didn’t play well enough to get us where we wanted to go, and that’s on me,” Lawrence said, making it clear he wasn’t interested in spreading blame.
The ending hurt because of how much had gone into the journey. Jacksonville had built momentum, confidence, and belief — only to see it all disappear in a matter of minutes.

“Losing like this hurts because of how much work we put into it and how high our expectations were,” Lawrence said, echoing the mood around the building.
But beyond accountability, Lawrence delivered an emotional plea directed at the outside noise that often follows playoff heartbreak.
“I just hope our fans continue to believe in and support my teammates,” he said. “They fought until the very end and deserve that support.”
The message was unmistakable. In a league where social media backlash can be immediate and brutal, Lawrence asked fans not to turn frustration into personal attacks on the players beside him.
Inside the locker room, the disappointment was real, but so was the pride. Players packed up their lockers knowing how close they had come — and how fragile success can be.

Jacksonville rallied repeatedly against Buffalo, refusing to fold, and that resilience defined much of their season even in defeat.
For Lawrence, leadership meant more than words after the loss. It meant standing in front, owning the outcome, and shielding his teammates when emotions ran hottest.
