“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about a frightening health scare that landed her in the emergency room.
On the Tuesday, March 3, episode of “Two T’s in a Pod” with Tamra Judge, Mellencamp, 44, said she initially thought she was coming down with the flu.
That quickly changed.

“I thought I had the flu. And then I woke up one day and my whole body was just covered in, like, this terrible rash — like, you can’t even say it’s a rash because it’s almost like sores all over my entire body,” she explained. The sores, she added, “hurt and they burned.”
After visiting urgent care and hoping it was merely an allergic reaction, she was told to go straight to the ER.
At the hospital, doctors determined she had developed Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare and potentially life-threatening reaction often triggered by medication.

Mellencamp described having blisters “in my mouth, around my eyes, just everywhere,” and said she “couldn’t swallow.”
She was hospitalized and treated with steroid injections and antibiotics.
“The reason they were like, ‘You have to stay in [the hospital]’ is because they can start to get better and then shift right back up,” she said, explaining why doctors closely monitored her condition.
The medical emergency comes amid her ongoing battle with melanoma.
Diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, she later revealed in April 2025 that the cancer had spread to her brain and lungs.
In a January update, she shared she currently has “no trace of cancer,” but emphasized, “I’m still considered stage four and I’m still in immunotherapy.”
As her symptoms improved after several days in the hospital, Mellencamp focused on one goal: making it to her daughter Dove’s 6th birthday party.
“It wasn’t feeling great, but it’s just, like, the adrenaline from being there,” she said. “I was so happy.”
The celebration carried extra weight.
The year before, she had been hospitalized and missed Dove’s 5th birthday — something she later said “broke my heart.”

In a heartfelt post this year, she wrote, “Last year I was in the hospital and missed Dove’s birthday party. This year I wasn’t going to let the same thing happen. So grateful and emotional that I get to celebrate six with her.”
Calling Dove her “miracle baby,” Mellencamp praised her daughter’s strength and resilience, adding, “I am still so sorry I was in the hospital and missed your 5th party; but dang you don’t know how grateful I am to be at this one.”
After weeks of uncertainty and recovery, simply being present made the milestone celebration even sweeter.
